Version 1.7.0 released 3/17/2009
Major Release

Features:

  • TwitPic support – You can now take pictures with your Windows Mobile device and post them to Twitter using TwitPic. You can also view smaller thumbnails of posted pictures that use the TwitPic service by using “Open URL”.
  • Search support – You can now perform simple searches on Twitter straight from Twobile.
  • GPS support – Geotag your tweets, or even update the “Location” field of your profile straight from your GPS-enabled device (requires that the GPS device is set up using Windows Mobile’s built-in GPS manager)
  • URL shortening – Post shortened URLs from your device using the TinyURL or is.gd URL shortening services.
  • Cut/Copy/Paste Support – Now you can cut, copy or paste from almost every text box in Twobile!
  • New “Write Message” Dialog – A new window has been added so that you no longer need to switch to another tab to write your tweets! It also allows you to manage what image to post, as well as insert shortened URLs, your GPS location, and other text!
  • More User-Info View Tabs – View a user’s friends, followers, and statuses from the Profile View window.
  • Reply to specific tweets – you can now reply to specific tweets published by another user!
  • Locate users with Geocoded addresses – When viewing a user’s profile, you can click on their location to load a map of where they are (so long as the location is a valid and mappable, like a street address or GPS coordinates).
  • AJAX-style Profile Image loader – When viewing a user and their profile image is not currently cached on your device, you can now view a user’s status message or profile quicker without having to wait for their profile image to download – it downloads in the background while you’re reading their messages! You can even click on the area for their profile image to manually download it if you have profile images for public timeline users turned off (or other users that aren’t on your friends list)!
  • Better one-handed support – many functions can now be perfomed without requiring the use of the touchscreen (be aware, though, that there is still a need for the touchscreen to perform some functions).
  • “Block” command added to Followers tab – Don’t like a particular person or spammer following your tweets? You can now block them directly from within Twobile. Just select Action > Block User when you are in the Followers tab!
  • Removal of the My Info and Featured tabs – with some improvements like the new “Write Message” dialog and the deprecation of the Featured APIs from Twitter, we have helped streamline your experience a little more by removing those two tabs.
  • Custom Retweet Prefixes – Want a different “Retweet” prefix besides “Retweet”, such as “RT”? Well, now you can set your own customized Retweet prefix!
  • Mobile Web Optimizers – You can now open websites in mobile web optimizers to increase the loading speed of links
  • Anonymous Usage Statistics – We are constantly finding new features to add to Twobile and changing things to make your overall experience with Twobile better. But we want to know what features you use the most so that we can focus on improving the most popular features, not just the ones we want. That’s why we’ve added submission of optional usage statistics, which tallies what features you use the most and sends them to us so that we can review what aspects of Twobile are the most popular. It is completely voluntary (enabled by default), and you can opt-in or out at any time! We hope you opt-in, so that we can collect as much data about what matters to our users as possible!

Bug Fixes:

  • So many, its hard to list them all here! (that and we’ve forgotten them all :P ).

Version 1.6.8 released 1/29/2009
Minor Release

Bug Fixes:

  • Temporarily fixes issues with logging in. Some devices using cellular connections with proxies may have issues. This issue is caused by a recent change with diagnostic tools provided by Twitter and will hopefully be resolved as soon as possible.

Version 1.6.7 released 10/3/2008
Minor Release

Bug Fixes:

  • Discovered and fixed bug caused by .NET Compact Framework not sending authentication header despite being told to during request sequence. This fixes problems with some people who have private Twitter profiles and are unable to log in through Twobile.

Version 1.6.6 released 9/30/2008
Minor Release

Bug Fixes:

  • Added menu item to from About screen to Diagnostics dialog
  • Fixed issues aggregating the Friends list from Twitter caused by a recent unannounced change to the Twitter API.

Version 1.6.5 released 8/29/2008
Minor Release
Features:

  • Added new integrated automatic self-diagnostics system. By launching Twobile in a special way, some connection issues can be diagnosed by running a series of tests to determine where the problem lies. To launch the diagnostic system: Quit Twobile if it is running, then press-and-hold the action/center button on your device while tap-and-holding the clock, then select “Run” and in the prompt type “:TWOBILE” without the quotes (be sure to include the colon and capitalize the word TWOBILE), and press OK. Documentation on how to determine what the errors mean, if any occur, will be posted at a later date.
  • Added the ability to open a Google Map on the device displaying a user’s location if the user has posted GPS coordinates from within the Profile View window. The ability to zoom in and out has also been added.

Bug Fixes:

  • Temporarily fixed startup routines, so that when Twobile is run at the startup of your device, the Twobile main screen is hidden.
  • Fixed some HTML character codes from appearing when translating text
  • Fixed some functionality in the Twitter connection libraries to try accessing resources at least twice before failing and reporting errors to the user – this attempts to solve some issues with Twobile in which the application appears to not even try to use an Internet connection and issues errors (actually, Windows Mobile causes this error).
  • Twitter connection libraries also now accomodate for the fact that users may be using a proxy server (i.e. if you are on AT&T or T-Mobile, for instance). Twobile attempts to connect without a proxy server, but if the request fails during an automatic diagnostic test, then Twobile switches automatically to using the system’s proxy server (the proxy server used in Pocket Internet Explorer).

Version 1.6.4 released 8/12/2008
Minor Release
Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed the “Retweet” feature to include the name of the original poster.
  • Fixed the profile images functionality so that when viewing the originating tweet of an @Reply, the profile image is not downloaded (saving bandwidth and memory)
  • Added ability to “retweet” from within the Message View.

Version 1.6.3 released 8/11/2008
Minor Release
Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a problem with introduced in 1.6.0’s update system where the update system would not properly recognize that the most current version is already installed.

Version 1.6.0/1.6.1/1.6.2 released 8/10/2008
Major Release
Features:

  • Added the capability to translate tweets in other languages to another language using Google’s Translate service. Also allows automatically detecting the language of the tweet and translating it to a selected language. This new functionality can be accessed in Menu of the Message View window when you open a tweet. Please be aware that not all languages are supported and that even those that are supported may not fully translate or even translate correctly. This is a limitation of the Google Translate service and not a problem in Twobile.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed some issues with character conversions when downloading information from Twitter.
  • Added some workarounds for problems with the Public Timeline when certain key elements are not displayed.
  • Added some fixes to the loading system when loading settings.
  • Added some fixes to the update notification functionality.
  • Fixed the startup routines of Twobile for future releases.
  • Fixed a problem with the version showing up as “Twobile 1.5″ instead of the actual version.
  • Fixed a problem with settings version control system not loading up the settings username/password correctly.

Version 1.5.3 released 7/23/2008
Minor Release
Bug Fixes:

  • Temporarily fixed some password problems by having passwords saved outside of the settings.xml file. Turned off encryption of the saved password until a new, more reliable encryption algorithm can be found.

Version 1.5.2 released 7/17/2008
Minor release
Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed some issues with the “Please donate” prompt continually showing up.

Version 1.5.1 released 7/10/2008
Minor release
Features:

  • Added Cut/Copy/Paste context menu to the text box in the “View User” dialog.
  • Added optional status bar to show current API usage and other messages.
  • Added ability to read Tweets by opening the Tweet and pressing the left or right button to read the next or previous Tweets in the list without having to manually close the Message View dialog (creates a known issue in that using the keyboard to position the cursor in the message text does not work and changes the message).

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed some issues with malformed Twitter API responses
  • Fixed issues with HTML decimal character codes not decoding.
  • Fixed issues with some messages not showing up, like automatic update notifications sometimes not showing up.

Version 1.5.0 released 7/1/2008
Major release
Features:

  • Caching support added to speed up access to Tweets and direct messages.
  • “Automagic” update notifications – every 7 days the app will check to see if a new version is available, or a manual check can be initiated through the Settings menu
  • Easier view access to allow most functionality to be performed without the need of a stylus
  • Selective layout – allows users to choose which tabs/views to show or hide and in what order
  • Profile View – You can now view more information about the authors of Tweets just by clicking on their name in the Message View.
  • Message View improvements – allows users to view the originating messages for @Replies, as well as the ability to know whether a Tweet was truncated by Twitter for being too long, and with which client the user posted the Tweet.
  • View User support – allows you to enter a Twitter username and view information about that user, as well as add that user to your friends list and see the most recent Tweets posted by that user.
  • Secure HTTPS connectivity – now you have the ability to encrypt the traffic between Twobile and Twitter. Please be aware though that this causes the connection between the two to be slightly slower and more traffic may be transferred between the client and the service.

Bug Fixes:

  • Many bug fixes and more informative messages.
