Infinitum Software

Quick notice

Some users are reporting that they are unable to install Twobile 1.x on their device. Unfortunately, not a lot of information is given other than models, but here is a checklist of things that you can try to help install it:

  1. Ensure that you device is a touchscreen-based Windows Mobile device – this should be evident as it requires either a stylus or your finger to operate the device directly on the screen. At the moment, only touchscreen-based devices can run Twobile. I hope to have a non-touchscreen-compatible version when the Twobile 2.x series is released.
  2. Ensure that you are using a device with version 5.0 or above of Windows Mobile. You can find out your device’s operating system version by going to Start > Settings > System tab > About . The first line should tell you which version you are running.
  3. Ensure that you have the .NET Compact Framework version 2.0 SP1 or later installed. Most newer devices running Windows Mobile 6.1 or above will have this (actually many have .NET Compact Framework 3.5), but if you do not, please visit Microsoft’s download site to get it. If you can’t tell if you have it or not, you can go to Start > Settings > System tab and if you have an icon for “Managed Programs,” then you already have it installed. Another way to test it is to install Twobile and try to run it – if the program complains that you do not have a file or that you have the wrong version, download the .NET Compact Framework 3.5 and install it, then try again.
  4. Ensure your device is “Application Unlocked.” This error is evident when trying to install Twobile and it complains that you do not have the permission to install Twobile, or when it gives you an error that installation failed without even having begun. If this is the case, then visit this site, download the SDA Application Unlocker and running it as specified on the site (note: though it talks about the Blackjack 2, this program should work on all Windows Mobile devices, but I can not vouch for it).
  5. If the above doesn’t work, try downloading the CAB file directly on a computer, transfer the file to your device, and try to install it from there. Although the CAB file should be downloadable directly from your device, some devices/browsers/ISPs/configurations can corrupt the download, rendering it unable to install. I have seen a large cross-section of devices run Twobile, so I do not believe that it would be a device issue, but anything is possible.

If you are having problems installing or running Twobile, please be sure to try each of the above solutions. If all else fails, please visit our Google Groups page and leave a message and I can try to help you out (note: Google Groups has recently been inundated with spam lately. I am working through what I can to clean it up but can not give any guarantee that it will be free from spam).
